What is it?
A members-only ultralight fightpark located 9 miles north of Billings, Montana.
The field operator is Yellowstone Ultralights and
Powered Parchutes, an ASC PPC flying club. Membership is open to all pilots of ultralight aircraft - powered parachutes, powered
paragliders, trikes, unpowered hang gliders and soarers, fixed-wing ultralights. Visitors are welcome.
What does it offer?
A 300' by 1200' turf runway/flight area, bisected by a 1200' E/W turf runway
(prevailing winds are west/southwest). A 30' wooden tower with observation platform. Multiple windsocks. Picnic and camping area. Riders in the Sky, Inc., maintains their hangar, flight school, and office space at the field (by appointment only, please - we have day jobs).
How to get there
Head North from Billings on Highway 87 towards Roundup. Just before mile marker 12 (about 8 miles past the K-Mart), the
Shepherd Acton Road crosses the highway. Turn left (west) onto the
Shepherd Acton Road (gravel). Go exactly 4 miles, and the Flightpark will be on your left.
Alternate route: On Highway 3, just south of Acton, turn onto Buffalo Spring Road. Immediately (within a hundred feet or so), turn East onto
Shepherd Acton Road. Go about 7 miles (watch out for the two sharp turns), and the Flightpark will be on your right.
